Hockey tools

Calculators and finders for the numbers fans argue about. Each one runs in your browser, works with a keyboard and comes with a plain-language explanation of its method.

Activate OnHockey Tools and run the content setup to fill this directory.

This directory contains twelve tools, grouped by the question they answer. Each page explains inputs and method, includes illustrative arithmetic and states limits. Use results as aids, then consult the governing competition or its official scorer when an official rule or record matters.

Plan a game and find context

For an event viewing question, the Where to Watch Hockey Finder points to official league sources; it does not guarantee a broadcaster or package. For a known start, the Game Time Zone Converter changes a date and time between zones. The Hockey Standings tool presents only rows supplied by a configured source and should identify freshness rather than pretend every table is live.

Compare team and skater numbers

The Points Percentage and Season Pace Calculator shows a points model and optional straight-line pace; it does not decide qualification. The Power Play and Penalty Kill Calculator calculates separate special-teams rates and a clearly limited sum. The Fantasy Hockey Points Calculator applies editable weights from the visitor’s rules, not a universal scoring table or projection.

The Shooting Percentage Calculator answers what share of shots on goal became goals. The Corsi and Fenwick Calculator compares attempts for and against, with blocked attempts included in Corsi and excluded from Fenwick. The PDO Calculator adds team shooting and save percentages on a 100 scale; that descriptive result is not proof of luck or future regression. The Per-60 Rate Calculator normalizes goals, assists or SOG using player time on ice in minutes and seconds.

Compare goaltending rates

The Goals Against Average Calculator measures goals allowed per 60 minutes. The Save Percentage Calculator measures the share of shots against stopped. These are different denominators; use the same goalie and sample when reviewing both, and retain shots and minutes alongside the results.

Choose the denominator before comparing

A shooting percentage needs shots on goal, not all attempts. A per-60 rate needs actual player time, not a nominal full game. A standings points rate is useful only when its maximum-points assumption fits the league. Special-teams percentages need their matching opportunities. Zero opportunities or zero shots produce an undefined rate, not an invented zero. A high or low number from a brief interval can move sharply as the sample changes.

Examples on the tools pages use hypothetical counts and are not real player lines. Calculators do not verify source data, model shot quality, predict results or replace rules. When comparing a provider’s figure, match source, time period, competition and event definition. A rounding difference is not necessarily a factual disagreement.

Six learning articles

For deeper explanations, read planning a hockey night across borders, comparing goalies with SV%, GAA and workload, reading hockey statistics with context, understanding PDO without calling it luck, Corsi, Fenwick and shots on goal, and reading special teams rates. These are educational explainers, not reports of unplayed games or claims about current team performance.

Sources and responsible use

League guides identify official organizers for current rules, schedules and source statistics. A homepage link is a discovery route, not proof of a specific game time or viewing right. Confirm exact event, territory and package with the licensed provider. OnHockey does not link to unauthorized streams and does not scrape league sites without permission. NHL access stays disabled unless the owner independently confirms authorization. If a feed is missing, the directory does not replace it with fabricated rows.

Calculator inputs are intended to be processed in the browser; fantasy preferences, when saved, remain in that browser. See the privacy policy for site-wide processing and the editorial policy for sourcing and corrections. OnHockey is independent and not affiliated with any league, team, broadcaster or data provider.

Frequently asked questions

Are results official?

No. They apply the displayed method to entered data. The league or official record keeper controls official statistics and rules.

Are scores always live?

No. Freshness depends on configured data sources, cache and network. Check the status and official schedule.

Does the viewing finder verify a stream?

No. It links to official discovery information and tells visitors to verify actual event rights with an authorized service.

Can I compare all competitions using one formula?

Only after checking scoring definitions, event rules and denominators. Similar labels do not guarantee comparable methods.
